Kav

‘Kav’ (Hebrew: line, cord) explores multi-dimensional surface and structure on non-functional ceramic vessels. In this series, boat-like forms question the relationship between purpose and form: must a vessel contain to fulfill its function?

Perforated, cut, and sewn, the works reflect ideas of protection and containment. Initially pierced with metal wires, they were later laced with colorful cotton threads, softening their rigidity while preserving their tension. Over time, the threads begin to envelop the vessels, striving to fill and reshape them, a pursuit of wholeness in a container that does not contain.
